Turkey travel rules update: What are Turkey’s new Covid rules for British travellers?

Travellers heading to Turkey have been warned to keep checking the entry requirements, as well as local restrictions for their destination, as the UK Foreign Office warned “no travel is risk-free”. Here are the latest changes to Turkey’s travel rules on entering the country, PCR testing and local restrictions in Turkey’s different provinces.

Foreign travel advice for travellers in Turkey was updated on January 18, 2022.

The UK Foreign Office has updated its guidance on what to do if you test positive for Covid while in Turkey.

While there are many precautions in place to avoid this likelihood, including random PCR testing on arrival, there’s always some chance of contracting coronavirus.

The Foreign Office’s guidance said: “No travel is risk-free during the COVID pandemic.

“Countries may further restrict travel or bring in new rules at short notice, for example, due to a new COVID-19 variant.”

What are the entry requirements for travellers arriving in Turkey from the UK?

Within 72 hours of arriving in Turkey, you need to fill out an online form for entry.

When you arrive in Turkey, there will be health evaluations including temperature checks and random PCR testing.

If you’re fully vaccinated, you can enter Turkey without having to provide a negative test or self-isolating upon arrival.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you’ll need to show proof of a negative PCR test (taken no more than 72 hours before entry), rapid antigen test (taken no more than 48 hours before entry), or proof of a recent recovery from COVID-19 within the last six months.

You should check the map, available from the Turkish Ministry of Health, if you’re travelling somewhere new.

Wearing masks is mandatory in Turkey at all times outside your home or place of residence.

This includes, but is not limited to, all public places, including streets, side streets, parks, gardens, picnic areas, markets, beaches, shops, restaurants and public transportation including Metro, buses, taxis and ferries.
