Khamzat Chimaev moves to 10-0 in a dominant performance against Li Jingliang on Fight Island at UFC 267
The UFC return of Khamzat Chimaev looked too easy for him, as he managed to score a first-round submission of Li Jingliang at UFC 267.
This marked Chimaev’s first fight since September 2020. Chimaev was diagnosed with COVID-19 in early 2021, and a nasty battle with the disease even had him contemplating retirement at one point.
“[Give me] Everybody! [I’ll] kill everybody!” Chimaev said in his post-fight interview. “I’m the champ! I’m the king!”
Khamzat Chimaev chokes out Li Jingliang in one-sided, successful UFC return
Chimaev shot at Jingliang right away, and after a brief grapple battle, got him down to the mat, proceeding to have a conversation with UFC President Dana White while doing so.
After a couple of minutes, Chimaev managed to flatten Jingliang out and land some ground-and-pound before sinking in a rear-naked choke. In spite of a great effort from Jingliang, it was too much. Jingliang managed to get out of one choke, but Chimaev switched sides and put Jingliang to sleep.
