UFC 277: Julianna Pena vs. Amanda Nunes live results.

Seven-and-a-half months after one of the biggest upsets in UFC history, Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes will collide once again. This time, it’s the other as defending UFC women’s bantamweight champion. This time, it’s champion vs. champion. And this time, it’s the main event.

The highly-anticipated title rematch headlines UFC 277, a card that will feature an interim flyweight title clash in addition to the aforementioned world title bout.

Pena managed to whether through Nunes’s storming pressure in their first fight at UFC 269 in December. Pena went toe-to-toe with Nunes before tiring her out and scoring a submission victory via rear-naked choke in the second round.

The fight earned much Upset of the Year awards across MMA media, FanSided included.

Pena has won three of her last four, also scoring a submission over Sara McMann and a decision over Nicco Montano in the stretch that dates back to UFC Sacramento on July 13, 2019 — a fight that marked her first after a two-and-a-half year layoff.

Meanwhile, it was Nunes’s first submission loss since dropping her professional MMA debut to Ana Maria in March 2008. It was also Nunes’s first loss, via finish and in general, since being TKO’d by Cat Zingano at UFC 178 in September 2014.

Nunes, of course, still enters this fight as UFC women’s featherweight champion, which she’s held since UFC 232 in December 2018. With a win, Nunes will become the first UFC fighter in history to be a champ-champ on two occasions and join just a handful of fighters to regain a UFC title they lost.

Also on the line will be the interim flyweight championship, as former champ Brandon Moreno will square off with Kai Kara-France in the UFC 277 co-main event.

Rumors of a potential fourth fight between Moreno and current champ Deiveson Figueiredo were shot down earlier this year due to a hand injury to Figueiredo. Instead, the winner of this match will challenge Figueiredo for undisputed gold.

Moreno and Kara-France met previously at UFC 245 in December 2019, with Moreno winning via unanimous decision. Moreno went on to defeat Jussier Formiga and Brandon Royval before his epic trilogy with Figueiredo. Kara-France has since won four of five and is currently on a three-fight win streak.
