UFC Vegas 46: Who is Joanderson Brito?
Prospects often have to go through a tough and rigorous path to get to the top promotions in MMA. Featherweight Joanderson Brito’s patience ended up securing him a spot in the UFC.
Brito is set to face Bill Algeo in his promotional debut at UFC Vegas 46. The card will be the first that the UFC has hosted in 2022, and all eyes will be on the fights in Las Vegas.
Brito enters UFC Vegas 46 with an aggressive style that will entertain fans. He’s accumulated a 12-2 record with five knockouts and five submissions.
The 26-year-old Brazilian got his start on the regional circuit, but it wasn’t an easy start to his career. After trading wins and losses, he finished with a draw against Jefson Castor at Arena Kombat FC 2.
This would end up being the turning point to Brito’s time in the cage. He has now won 10 fights in a row, including a co-main event win at LFA 65 against Jose Mariscal.
Joanderson Brito will make his UFC debut after a controversial win on Dana White’s Contender Series
Brito’s surge ended up attracting the attention of Dana White and the UFC, as he earned a spot on Dana White’s Contender Series. He would get a matchup against Diego Lopes, but the fight would end in an uncommon technical decision.
Brito inadvertently poked Lopes’ eye and stopped his ability to continue fighting. Due to the fight being in the third round or later, the bout went to a decision and Brito would win 29-28.
Despite the bittersweet performance on DWCS, White would end up giving Brito a contract and an opportunity in the UFC. He’ll look to prove White right this weekend at UFC Vegas 46.
