If you’re a member of the BTS Army, you likely need no introduction to Jimin, the singer and dancer who got his start with the K-pop boy band and released his first solo album, Face, on March 24. Jimin’s song “Like Crazy” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, making him the first South Korean solo artist to top the chart—but when Vogue caught up with him recently, he was relaxed and ready to hang (even though he was getting ready for a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which must have come with no small share of nerves).
Jimin spends much of his time on the road, so face masks and a comfortable bed are necessities; after some time to unwind at the hotel, he’s off to discuss his new album over iced coffee with record producer Pdogg. “If something wasn’t working, then we’d go eat at the pork cutlet place right in front of my place,” Jimin recalls of working with Pdogg on the album. From there, he heads to 54 Vintage Vinyl in Midtown Manhattan, where he pulls out some of his favorite records, including the Beatles’ Abbey Road (which Jimin cites as a huge inspiration for BTS).
Soon, rehearsal time rolls around, which means some exclusive content of Jimin dancing and fully in his element—but you’ll have to see the full video for that. Trust us, you’ll want to.
