Immortal Empires is an amazing sandbox campaign that single-handedly transformed Total War: Warhammer 3 into one of the best strategy games ever made. The campaign offers an unprecedented amount of variety thanks to its large number of playable races and even larger number of Legendary Lords; a number that currently sits at 89. Provided you own all the DLC packs, of course.
But just because there are so many Legendary Lords on offer, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are all worth playing. While some of these faction leaders are so good that you’ll be tempted to play through their campaigns multiple times, others feel either too weak or too boring at the moment. In this tier list, we’re going to rank every single one of them, from best to worst.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Legendary Lords Tier List For Immortal Empires
When ranking the game’s myriad of Legendary Lords we took into account a number of factors like unique traits, unique items, starting positions, skill trees, mount options, and spells selection. Since not every Legendary Lord has access to mounts or spells, we placed less importance on those factors compared to the others.
Before we begin, we need to mention that this is strictly a Legendary Lords tier list. We’re not taking into account the LL’s faction, let alone their race. Instead, we did our best to judge all Legendary Lords by their own merits. With that out of the way, let’s jump straight into it.

These are the best of the best Legendary Lords in Immortal Empires right now. Some of these LLs like Ikit Claw, Alarielle the Radiant, and Settra the Imperishable have been top-tier for years while others reached their full potential only recently. Notable examples include Oxyotl, Grimgor Ironhide, Archaon the Everchosen, and Kholek Suneater.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Drazhoath the Ashen also made the S Tier. The Chaos Dwarfs, as a whole, are a very strong faction. What may come as a surprise to some is Be’lakor. While the Dark Master is incredibly weak in The Realm of Chaos campaign, he’s an absolute beast in Immortal Empires and one of the best Legendary Lords in the game.

Several of these Legendary Lords almost made it to S Tier, but were dragged down a notch either by traits, skill trees, or starting positions. Still, all these Legendary Lords are powerful in their own right and definitely worth playing in Immortal Empires. Unsurprisingly, the majority of these are DLC Legendary Lords, but there are a few you can play even if you only own the base game. These include Skarbrand, Kairos Fateweaver, and Zhao Ming.
If you’re new to the game we recommend checking out Tyrion, Count Noctilus, or the Sisters of Twilight if you’re looking for some easy campaigns. Meanwhile, Skarbrand, Malus Darkblade, Vlad von Carstein, and Taurox are great choices for one-man armies. Most of the other Legendary Lords here have a bit more nuance and their campaigns can be a bit challenging for newcomers, but they’re still very fun to play regardless.

Not the best Legendary Lords in Immortal Empires, but certainly not the worst ones either. Unfortunately, there are quite a few iconic characters here that haven’t received any love from the developers in quite some time. Karl Franz and Teclis are obvious examples, but we also have to mention Lord Mazdamundi, Thorgrim Grudgebearer, and even Malekith.
It’s interesting to note that only a few Legendary Lords introduced in Total War: Warhammer 3 made it to the B Tier. All three Legendary Lords from Kislev can be found here, including Boris, which would have been A Tier if not for his starting position. Same goes for Miao Ying. Others like Loen Leoncoeur, Lord Skrolk, Gor-Rok, and Ungrim Ironfist are painfully average even compared to some of the other LLs in B Tier.

You’re starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel whenever you’re thinking about playing any of these. Zhatan the Black, Heinrich Kemmler, Malagor the Dark Omen, and a couple of the other Legendary Lords found here do show some potential, but they simply don’t feel fun to play at the moment. Meanwhile, others like N’kari and Markus Wulfhart are a bit too gimmicky for their own good.
N’Kari and Ku’gath are arguably the biggest disappointments here because you can tell that the developers did their best to make them unique, but it didn’t really pan out in the end. Most of the other ones were introduced ages ago and haven’t received any substantial updates since, especially the Norsca and Dwarf Legendary Lords.

These Legendary Lords are generally not worth playing at the moment in Immortal Empires. You can maybe have some fun playing as Crone Hellebron, Mannfred von Carstein, or Tretch Craventail, but why bother when there are much better choices out there? As far as the other ones are concerned, they’re pretty much a lost cause at this point, especially the Daemon Prince.
