Watch live: Brendan Rodgers’ first media conference after Celtic return

Brendan Rodgers is facing the media for the first time since his return as Celtic manager.

Rodgers agreed a three-year-deal to succeed Ange Postecoglou and will now aim to build on the Treble that the Australian’s side delivered last season.

The Northern Irishman enjoyed a hugely successful time as Celtic manager from 2016 to 2019, winning seven successive trophies, leading the team through a record-breaking unbeaten season and shaping an exciting side that dominated Scottish football.

Rodgers departed for Leicester City in 2019, going on to take the Foxes to successive fifth-placed finishes in the English top flight and winning the FA Cup.

Now he is back to face a new challenge at Celtic. As he faces the media for the first time since returning to Glasgow, he’ll likely be asked about his targets for the seasons ahead, his plans for the transfer market, and his reasons for accepting the job for the second time.

Speaking to Celtic’s club TV channel, he’s already emphasised his intention to deliver the style of play that brought success to the team, and was enjoyed by fans, first time around.

“What my commitment has always been is to attacking, aggressive football. In my last time here we were able to achieve that, especially playing so many games,” he said.

“My commitment is always to be an attacking team, to be an aggressive team and to be a winning team. That’s always the promise I make.”
