India are in the Caribbean for an all-format series which starts from July 12. The Indian team will take part in 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is in the tour and the red ball format commences the tour.

India kickstart their 2023-25 WTC cycle with this series and would dearly love a winning start after their WTC 2023 Final horror show.

Virat Kohli is a part of the team and is certainly one of the key players in the series. And ahead of the first Test, the Indian batter reminisced about his special moment in the Caribbean.

The Indian batter picked the Test match in Antigua in 2016 as his most favourite memory, where he scored his career’s maiden double hundred in front of Sir Vivian Richards.

“My favourite memory obviously is Antigua. I got my first-ever double hundred in Test cricket in Antigua in front of Sir Vivian Richards. That for me was a very, very special moment and then he met me in the evening as well and congratulated me. It cannot get any better than that,” Kohli said speaking to Star Sports.

Kohli’s form in the Test format in West Indies is not the best. The former India captain has scored only 463 runs across 13 innings in the Caribbean at a modest average of 35.61.

His solitary three-figure score came in that Antigua Test where Kohli scored 200 runs. India won that Test series 2-0 and Kohli was the top scorer with 251 runs.

Despite his struggle at the Caribbean, the 34-year-old is in awe of the atmosphere in the Island countries during a match.

“You can feel the heritage and the passion of the people when you go and play there. We are all very excited. The atmosphere for cricket in the West Indies is great,” Kohli added.
