TOPS to fund Bajrang Punia’s month-long training stint in US

New Delhi: The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC), which approves funding for the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), has approved Olympics bronze medal winner Bajrang Punia’s month-long training stint in the US. Punia had asked for permission to train in Michigan to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and the World Championships. The MOC also approved assistance towards the procurement of two T20 Proteam Look TT track bikes for cyclists Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham, who are in the TOPS development group. Financial assistance to top paddler Sharath Kamal towards support staff fees, nutrition and rehab was also approved. Besides, pistol shooter Anish Bhanwala’s request to train under coach Ralf Schumann in Germany was also sanctioned.
