Unlike the men’s edition that sees the two long-standing rivals clash in a five-match Test series, the women’s edition will feature only one Test match followed by six white ball matches.
The Women’s Ashes, founded in 1934, was a Test only format till 2010-11 season, but since the 2013 edition, the series has been decided on points earned in multi-format (Test, ODIs and T20Is).
How does the point system work in Women’s Ashes?
Six points are awarded for winning the Test match, with two points each if the match is drawn, while two points are awarded for winning a limited overs match (ODI and T20), and one point each if the match was drawn.
Australia Women or England Women – Who has won most Women’s Ashes?
In 24 series held so far, Australia has won 10 times, while England has won 6 times with 8 series ending in a draw, resulting in the previous edition winner retaining the title.
Since the introduction of the multi-format, Australia has won the series three times, while England has won twice with one series ending in a draw. Before the multi-format system, Australia won the Women’s Ashes seven times, while England won the series four times with 7 series ending in draw.
