World Cup hat-tricks: The youngest, the oldest and the last scorers!

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is in full swing in Qatar, but no player has scored a hat-trick so far in these early stages.

This is the 22nd edition of the World Cup since the first in 1930, and an overall of 52 hat-tricks have been scored in the previous 21 editions.

The South African takes a look at the youngest, the oldest and the last hat-trick scorers in the history of the World Cup finals.

THE YOUNGEST HAT-TRICK SCORER IN WORLD CUP HISTORY

Brazil icon Pele remains the youngest hat-trick scorer despite retiring from football 64 years ago as a teenager.

It was in 1958 when Pele scored a hat-trick at the age of 17 years and 244 days in the semi-final clash against France.

THE OLDEST HAT-TRICK SCORER IN WORLD CUP HISTORY

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo is the current holder of the record for the oldest player to score a World Cup hat-trick.

Ronldo achieved that feat at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia when he delivered three superb goals in that thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain at the age of 33 years and 130 days old.

THE LAST HAT-TRICK SCORER IN WORLD CUP HISTORY

While Ronaldo scored his hat-trick at the 2018 World Cup, it was England striker Harry Kane who scored the last hat-trick in Russia.

Kane’s treble came in England’s 6-1 win over Panama on 14 June. The Three Lions came close to reaching the final in Russia as they crashed out at the hands of Croatia in the semi-finals.
