Hometown favorite Zelina Vega was gunning for the Smackdown Women’s Title while celebrity rapper and Puerto Rico’s own bad Bunny featured in a Street Fight. Raw Women’s Title and United States Title were also on the line on the show.
Check out the recap and results from the 2023 WWE Backlash Premium Live Event that went down from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico:
– Raw Women’s Championship Match: Bianca Belair (c) defeated IYO SKY (With DAMAGE CTRL’s Bayley and Dakota Kai). After Bianca powerbomb-ed IYO, Dakota hit Bianca from behind when the referee wasn’t watching.
SKY went for a moonsault but Binaca moved out of the way and delivered a KOD to get the pin-fall win. With this victory and retention, Bianca has now become the longest-reigning Raw Women’s Champion of the modern era.

– Seth Rollins defeated Omos (with MVP) at Backlash in a match with no buildups. Rollins first knocked out MVP with a Superkick and then delivered three Stomps (the last one from the top rope) to gain the pin-fall win.
– United States Championship Match: Austin Theory (c) defeated Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed to retain his title. Theory escaped The Hurt Lock submission by Lashley using the ropes and the Triple Threat No-DQ rules as his advantage.
Theory momentarily had Reed lifted on his shoulders but Reed responded with a powerslam. Reed went for a splash off the top rope but missed. Lashley connected with a spear on Reed but it was Theory to steal the pin to win.
– SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) defeated Zelina Vega to retain her title. Following a 619, Vega delivered a Meteora but Ripley kicked out and quickly planted her with the Riptide for an authoritative pin-fall win.

– San Juan Street Fight: Bad Bunny defeated Damian Priest in a match that witnessed multiple interferences. Judgment Day members Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio ran out to attack Bunny. This led Rey Mysterio to come out but Judgment Day beat him down.
It was then that the former WWE Intercontinental Champion Carlito returned to WWE to a huge pop from the Puerto Rico crowd. Carlito and Rey took out Balor and Dominik. Carlito also spat Apple in Dominik’s face, doing his signature pose.
Another Puerto Rican veteran Savio Vega came out with Santos Escobar and other LWO members backing him up. Savio hit his signature moves on Finn and Dominik amid huge cheers from the audience as Bunny looked on.

Bunny locked in the Figure-Four Leg Lock on Priest, but Priest broke it. Bunny started hitting Priest with a Steel Chair and also sent Priest face-first into a Steel Chair. Finally, Bunny hit the Canadian Destroyer on Priest for the pin to win.
– The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & The Usos) defeated Matt Riddle and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in a non-title six-man tag team match. Usos made history as they participated in the match as siblings.
Solo laid out Owens with a Samoan Spike after shoving off Zayn. Solo then almost hit Jey with the Samoan Spike but controlled himself. Finally, Solo finished the match by pinning Riddle after a Samoan Spike.
– Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of WWE Backlash 2023. Lesnar was posing in front of the announce table when Cody hit him with a Suicide Dive followed by three shots in the head with the Steel Ring Steps.

The match finally began but Lesnar was busted open after Cody sent him into an exposed turnbuckle. Lesnar countered with an F-5 and applied the Kimura Lock but Cody stole the win by rolling him up while being in the lock.
