WWE Wrestlemania 39: Update on a major return for Gimmick Match

This venomous rivalry has been ongoing on Raw for over a year and it’s only fitting that the two have been booked to settle the score once-and-for-all inside the most devastating steel cage structure that WWE has to offer.

The stakes for this match have been raised as Edge called out “The Demon” version of Finn Balor to face him. Now, the WWE Hall of Famer himself is going back to his darker version to present this bout in a completely new dimension.

Rumours have been swirling about WWE having some discussions of “Brood” Edge and “The Demon King” Finn Balor wrestling at WrestleMania Hollywood. In an update from PWInsider, Brood’s founder Gangrel is scheduled to return in this match.

“Gangrel will be a part of Edge’s entrance and have a spot with Damian Priest during the Hell in a Cell match with Finn Balor at WrestleMania.”

If that’s the case then this will be Gangrel’s first appearance in WWE in 16 years. The Attitude Era Veteran last appeared on the 15th-anniversary episode of Raw in 2007, where he competed in a Battle Royal.

Since his 2020 comeback, Edge has wrestled one match under the “Brood” gimmick back at SummerSlam where he defeated Seth Rollins with his arm-bar submission. Gangrel was rumoured to appear on WWE TV around that match but plans didn’t materialize.

Gangrel isn’t the only legendary name speculated to return at WrestleMania 39. The below-mentioned veterans are expected to be part of the festivities around the Show of Shows:

Coming back to the Hell in a Cell Match at WrestleMania 39, this is expected to be the culmination of Edge’s feud with Finn Balor as well The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley).

For those who don’t remember, Edge formed Judgment Day with Damian Priest, a year ago at WrestleMania 38, but he was kicked out of it by Balor, two months later to kick off this lengthy beef.

Now heading into the final match of the feud, Edge is in an advantageous situation since he’s having prior experience of competing inside the Hell in a Cell which includes a victory against Seth “Freakin'” Rollins at Crown Jewel 2021.

Also, 15 years ago at SummerSlam 2008, The Rated-R Superstar was admittedly baptized to this “Devil’s Favorite Playground” by none other than The Deadman, The Undertaker himself in a hard-fought loss.
