Several teams, including the Houston Rockets, hoped to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
The San Antonio Spurs won the draft lottery on Tuesday, giving them the right to draft the 7-foot-5 French phenom in Victor Wembanyama.
The 19-year-old was happy with the Spurs landing the top selection and not the Rockets, according to a video showing him celebrating when they landed the fourth pick in the draft.
After the video went viral on social media, Jabari Smith Jr., one of the team young stars, reacted with an emoji.

The Rockets and the Spurs finished with the same record last season, 22-60, which ties for the worst record in the Western Conference.
The Rockets have several impressive young pieces to build with moving forward and a new championship head coach in Ime Udoka, who led the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals.
