RCB suffered their 6th loss of the season against Mumbai Indians. Despite a decent batting performance, they lost the match with overs to spare.
Virat Kohli was dismissed early and after that, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis scored the bulk of the runs. The Indian batters Anuj Rawat (6 off 4 balls), Mahipal Lomror (1 off 3 balls) and Kedar Jadhav (12 off 8 balls) all had a struggle and couldn’t give them the impetus at the flag end of the inning.
And Aakash Chopra has taken a brutal dig at the franchise for not enough investment in Indian players. The former India player believes the lack of Indian batting quality in the team has hampered them and asked if they have invested too much only in Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli has scored 7000 runs for RCB. Then there’s not a single Indian batter with 1000 runs. In 16 years. A case of not investing enough in Indian batters except Kohli? Remember…half their games are at The Chinnaswamy… #TataIPL

As a matter of fact, Anuj Rawat (168 runs in 14 innings), Mahipal Lomror (400 runs in 23 innings), Suyash Prabhudessai (102 runs in 9 innings), Shahbaz Ahmed (321 runs in 25 innings) – all of RCB’s Indian batters expect Kohli are inexperienced and have struggled to make a mark thus far this season.
They have Dinesh Karthik and roped in Kedar Jadhav this season, who are at the twilight of their career. Hence it has been an over-dependence on Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell for them. And Chopra pointed out the same.
While RCB’s over-reliance on KGF hasn’t reduced much, their bowling (which was their strength this season) has gone off the boil a bit. At the wrong time in the season. On the contrary, MI has found some momentum courtesy their superior batting…(bowling continues to be a worry)
