Some of the team behind the well-liked Sonic Mania have a new game on the way. Penny’s Big Breakaway was announced today during the most recent Nintendo Direct live stream and is expected to be released early next year.
As you might expect, Penny’s Big Breakaway is a colorful platformer with a focus on movement and traversal. Here’s the game’s full description:
“In this 3D platforming adventure, you’ll explore the bright and colorful world of Macaroon, and help Penny and Yo-Yo escape the clutches of the grouchy Emperor Eddie. Perform stylish, acrobatic tricks to avoid Eddie’s massive horde of pushy penguins in Story Mode. Power up Yo-Yo to protect Penny and put your speed running skills to the test in Time Attack Mode to unlock special items and complete secret stages.”

Penny’s Big Breakaway is being made by Evening Star Studio, founded in 2018. This is its first game as a company.
